This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Winter Soldier Investigations, a three-day media event sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) featuring over 100 honorably discharged veterans testifying in regards to war crimes committed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Human rights groups have condemned the murder of the environmental rights activist Berta Cáceres and called for the government of Honduras to conduct an in-depth and independent investigation.

Gunmen broke down the door of Cáceres’s home in La Esperanza, Intibuca in the early hours of 3 March and shot her four times, according to local media. The killers then fled the scene without being identified. 

During a recent drive along the Lebanese border with Israel, I posted a photograph to Facebook taken from the south Lebanese town of Adaisseh. Facebook immediately asked if I wanted to specify the location as “Misgav Am, Hazafon, Israel.”
