As Warscapes enters our third year, we are seeking to expand our editorial team with candidates interested in helping shape the growth of this dynamic, digital storytelling platform – a unique not-for-profit online magazine with published work to date covering more than 60 hot and cold conflicts. New team members will have an avid engagement with current affairs, a strong literary/artistic sensibility, vital curiosity and, above all, a guiding sense of political integrity. All candidates must have refined communication skills (written and verbal), be multilingual, savvy with social media and comfortable with web publishing tools and technology. Our team members work remotely and autonomously but remain grounded and engaged in a supportive Warscapes community through regular web meetings.
Warscapes is built on volunteer engagement, and these are unpaid positions – but as Warscapes grows and evolves, so may these roles.

Associate Editors: We are seeking four candidates to become editorial partners, researching, soliciting, commissioning and uploading finished, edited pieces (a mutually predetermined quota of articles for the year). Associate Editors will pursue collaborations with local initiatives, promote Warscapes within their particular regions and expand the network of writers and artists. Within this framework, editors’ schedules are self-determined, however editors are expected to be present on web meetings and communicate with staff on a regular basis. We are looking for editors based in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.  CLOSED

Editorial Assistants: We are seeking two candidates with strong writing, editing and research skills to offer general assistance to the Warscapes team. Responsibilities will include reading submissions, proofreading, communicating with publishers and other media outlets, research, outreach and database management. Multilingual or bilingual candidates strongly preferred. Commitment of up to five hours a week required. CLOSED

If you are interested in applying for any of these positions, please send a resumé, cover letter and a writing sample to Bhakti Shringarpure at no later than February 25th, 2014.
